Everyday stress and work overload can cause us to burn out. At some point, we all need a break from the daily grind in order to recharge our batteries. Instead of a typical weekend getaway, you may want to embark on a specialized retreat, designed to promote mind and body stress reduction.

The Copper Beech Institute, which launched in May, offers three-day R&R; retreats focusing on rest, relaxation and stress relief through yoga, meditation, mindfulness practice and Healing Arts Therapies, including reflexology and massage.

“I discovered in my many years of study and research that there are contemplative tools available to us like mindfulness, meditation, yoga, along with many others that can transform how we are living,” Brandon Nappi, Ph.D., founder and executive director at The Copper Beech Institute, told New York Smash. “These ancient practices, which can be embraced by any of us, can help us access ancient wisdom for living a life of purpose and peace.”

Located on 48 wooded acres in West Hartford, Conn., the facility has 160 private guest rooms, conference rooms, dining areas, a bookstore, an art gallery, walking trails, gardens and labyrinth. The retreat includes accommodations in a private guest room, three primarily vegetarian and organic meals per day, daily activities and workshops, as well as the occasional evening concert for entertainment.

During a retreat, guests learn how to use meditation and mindfulness to manage stress and live a more fulfilling life. Mindfulness, which is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment, is reportedly practiced by many high-profile business leaders and CEOs, including LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner and Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini, and it is known that meditation played a profound role in Steve Jobs’ life, according to The Huffington Post.

A typical day at The Copper Beech Institute includes yoga classes, mindfulness meditation practice, such as mindful breathing and walking sessions, and workshops. Guests are not required to participate in any of the activities; the staff encourages guests to relax and do as they please, explore the tranquil grounds, take walks and absorb the natural surroundings.
