Our History

Montana Travel has been making dreams come true for thousands of satisfied travelers for more than 45 years. The agency was founded in 1965 by Robert and Hope Stevens and purchased in 1986 by its manager, Sue Leigland, one of its first employees.

Under Sue’s effective leadership, Montana Travel expanded its staff from 3 to 15, opened the first drive-up window in the Mountain West, and installed the first automated airlines computer system in Bozeman. Throughout the years the innovations have continued, and as the travel industry changed, Montana Travel kept pace.

Further, Montana Travel has a wonderful staff, the most senior of whom have been with the agency for more than 40 years. In an industry where change is the norm, this group of dedicated, experienced professionals provides unparalleled service to our clients.

Travel Cafe acquires Montana Travel

In December 2012, Travel Café in Billings acquired Montana Travel in Bozeman. It has allowed two amazing travel companies to combine forces and offer the best-of-the-best for inbound and outbound travel in Montana.

The acquisition of Montana Travel allowed Travel Café to expand its market to include Billings, Bozeman, Missoula and Great Falls. Montana Travel’s long-established phone numbers and email addresses continue to operate as normal.

Travel Café’s menu of services include corporate and leisure travel, meeting planning, affluent travel specialties, destination weddings and bridal registries.
